The creation of this blog...

I've decided to create a separate blog to consolidate the various food topics and recipes I discover or try. I love cooking, not baking so much, but cooking. I enjoy trying new recipes from all cuisines. I'm interested in cooking with fresh and healthy ingredients. I'm against pesticide, genetically modified food and prepared/packaged food. I also eat little meat so you will find that most of my recipes will be vegetarian/vegan in nature with some raw recipes as well.

Over the years, our family has switched our diet to encompass the items mentioned above, as well as many raw recipes. My husband and I have both noticed a change in our palette (better appreciation for fresh ingredients and their natural taste) and an increased sensitivity in our mouths (swollen tongues or inside cheeks) when we eat out due to the amount of salt, acid, sugar included in most meals prepared in restaurants.

This year, our family started to participate in our first Community Shared Agriculture share through www.grantfarms.com and purchased both a veggie and fruit crop. This wonderful program allows us to support our local farms while be provided on a weekly basis with wonderful, fresh organic produce. The fun part to this is each week I'm challenged to make recipes using the ingredients from our weekly share.

Through this blog, I hope to inspire those reading this to either try new things or provide ideas on how to eat healthy.
